Mike took over the helm of NEPPA in May 2022 after a 40 year utility career that started inside a #6 fuel oil generation plant at Philadelphia Electric. \nPrior to his role at NEPPA\, Mike was the Energy & Technical Programs Manager for the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) in Hughesville\, Maryland\, and his main responsibility was the oversight of the Solar Interconnection and Electric Vehicle programs. \nBefore his stint at SMECO\, Mr. Hyland served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering Services at the American Public Power Association (APPA) in Washington DC for 24 years. In that position\, he was responsible for all the engineering\, safety\, cyber security\, reliability\, system planning\, mutual aid and operations for the associations 2000+ municipal utilities operating in the United States. \nMike is a Professional Engineer with an Electrical Engineering degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia\, is co-inventor on three US Patents\, and now resides in Nashua\, NH. Mike has been married to his wife Colleen for over 33 years. Together they have raised three engineering children: Reid\, Erik and Jodie. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n\nRegistration Fees\n2026 Registration fees include coffee/tea\, continential breakfast and lunch each day. DESCRIPTION:General Foreman Roundtable (Fall 2026)October 14\, 2026 (8:30 am – 1:00 pm) | NEPPA Training Center\n\nNortheast Public Power is excited to host General Foreman from the region to come together for this interactive roundtable discussion. This year’s General Foreman Roundtable will be held Wednesday\, October 14\, 2026 from 8:30am-1:00pm at the NEPPA Training Center (200 New Estate Road\, Littleton\, MA 01460).  \n  \nThis General Foreman Roundtable is an open\, experience-based discussion focused on the real decisions General Foremen face in electric utility work. This session is designed as a moderated peer-to-peer conversation. Seasoned and newer General Foremen alike are encouraged to share their experiences\, perspectives\, and lessons learned—from decisions made under pressure\, to managing risk in the field\, to building and maintaining trust with crews. \nThe goal is simple: learn from each other. By openly discussing what works\, what doesn’t\, and what we’ve learned along the way\, we strengthen our leadership\, improve safety\, and grow together as professionals. Bring your experience\, your questions\, and your willingness to engage \n \n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Topics to Be Discussed\nTopics are still being finalized. He then worked for Kay Electric Cooperative in Blackwell\, Oklahoma\, where he spent 11 years. In that time\, he received his Lineworker Certificate from Northwest Lineman College. In 2019\, Codie received the “Above and Beyond” Award from the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives for providing emergency care for an individual in a vehicle accident while he was on the job. In his free time\, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with my family. Codie is NEPPA’s Manager of Safety and Training\, moving to New Hampshire in early 2025 to join the NEPPA team. \n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Registration\nRegistration includes coffee and baked goods in the morning and afternoon lunch.
