DESCRIPTION:NEPPA’s is pleased to offer the revitalized Substation I Program which is held 3.5-days/week for 4 weeks/year. Substation I is designed to be an introduction to substations including safety\, design\, operation\, equipment and theory. Upon successful completion of the Program\, students are awarded a Certificate of Completion. \nIn addition to in-class lecture\, the Substation I Program incorporates hands-on application of concepts and testing\, field visits and tours of different installations\, and weekly testing including a final exam to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of the course content. Recognize safety hazards in a substation2. Demonstrate a foundational knowledge of how electricity is transmitted through substations3. Practice safely entering\, exiting\, and performing maintenance in a substation.4. Apply concepts of the substation’s role in a distribution system.5. Identify and classify equipment found in a substation\, including applicable safety precautions including PPE6. Demonstrate an understanding of SCADA\, as well as basic switching and tagging.7. Ability to deenergize and reenergize a power transformer8. Recognize applicable standards\, specifications\, and regulations such as OSHA and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). \n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Course Prerequisites\nStudents are expected to take NEPPA’s Basic Electricity and Mathematics for Utility Operations (BEM) course\, and/or demonstrate a solid understanding of basic electricity concepts\, theory and mathematics through prequalification testing. SUMMARY:Apprentice Lineworker Program - Year III
DESCRIPTION:NEPPA offers a four-year curriculum of the Northwest Lineman College’s Lineworker Certification Program and combines hands-on and formal classroom training. Students attend class four times a year for four days each to complete the four-year program. \nIn addition to classroom time\, students are expected to: \nSelf-study by reading the material \nTrack\, record\, and submit monthly apprenticeship reports of on-the-job training \nTrack\, record and submit quarterly “competency” forms \nEach year\, students participate in an additional two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo each year. The Apprentice Rodeo is designed to showcase the apprentices’ developing technical and climbing skills\, and to reinforce the program’s focus on professionalism\, safety\, and proper technique. \nAttendance Policy \nStudents are required to attend all 16-days of the in-class program as well as the two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo. Any student unable to attend their regularly scheduled class or the Skills Assessment Rodeo is required to make-up the time\, training\, and competencies covered during those class days. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division. Dan continues to maintain his 1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. Recognize safety hazards in a substation2. Demonstrate a foundational knowledge of how electricity is transmitted through substations3. Practice safely entering\, exiting\, and performing maintenance in a substation.4. Apply concepts of the substation’s role in a distribution system.5. Identify and classify equipment found in a substation\, including applicable safety precautions including PPE6. Demonstrate an understanding of SCADA\, as well as basic switching and tagging.7. Ability to deenergize and reenergize a power transformer8. Recognize applicable standards\, specifications\, and regulations such as OSHA and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). \n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Course Prerequisites\nStudents are expected to take NEPPA’s Basic Electricity and Mathematics for Utility Operations (BEM) course\, and/or demonstrate a solid understanding of basic electricity concepts\, theory and mathematics through prequalification testing. The BEM Class will be held on the first day of Substation I from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. \n\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Registration Fees \nRegistration fees include coffee and lunch each day.
