DESCRIPTION:The seminar covers cybersecurity and securing operational technology (OT) networks for substations and industrial plants. Attendees will understand the threats to industrial control systems (ICS) and the methods used to secure them. \nThe goal of this seminar is to identify threat vectors\, discuss the concept of risk\, introduce mitigation methods\, and identify zones of protection. DESCRIPTION:In its second iteration\, NEPPA is continuing to improve and is pleased to offer the Public Utility Management Program again in 2022.  The Public Utility Management Program (PUMP) is a 6-day\, one year Program held April 12 – 14 and October 25 – 27\, 2022 at the NEPPA Training Center (200 New Estate Road\, Littleton\, MA 01460). \nPUMP is a robust course which covers a variety of management\, leadership\, and operations disciplines necessary for leaders of Public Power\, today and in the future. Steve attended the University of Maine at Orono. \n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Linda Calderiso\n					Trainer\, Certified American Heart Associaiotn & Medic First Aid Trainer for First Aid\, CPR\, AED \n					Linda Calderiso has been a trainer with the Northeast Public Power Association since November 2000 and brings energy and professionalism to all the sessions she teaches. \nAs NEPPA’s primary First Aid\, CPR and AED instructor\, Linda is instrumental in ensuring NEPPA members meet their annual requirements in an engaging and fun learning environment.\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Dan Flynn\n					Technical & Safety Trainer  \n					Dan Flynn has been a safety trainer with Northeast Public Power Association\, since September 2018 after retiring from Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Dept with more than a 40 year career in public power. \nDan started in the electric meter department in the 1970’s and worked his way through the electric line department as a lineman/line foremen and his last position as the electric department superintendent. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division. Dan continues to maintain his 1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. Class A Driving license. \nDan is a lifelong resident of Wakefield\, Ma where he lives with his wife Alayne of 39 years they have two adult children. \nHe says “It is a privilege to continue to be involved with the public power industry in New England to give back any knowledge I’ve acquired over these many years.”\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Lou Gabriele\n					Technical & Safety Trainer\, Certified American Heart Association & Medic First Aid Trainer for First Aid\, CPR\, AED  \n					Lou Gabriele has been a technical and safety trainer with NEPPA for over 20 years. \nPrior to joining NEPPA\, Lou spent his 30+ year line career with Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS). Prior to being merged with Green Mountain Power\, Central Vermont Public Service Corp. was the largest electricity supplier in Vermont. Its customer base covered 160\,000 people in 163 towns\, villages and cities in Vermont.\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Tim Richardson\n					P.E.\,Technical & Safety Trainer \n					Tim Richardson joined NEPPA in September of 2019 and has been an asset to the training team. Tim has a long history working in the electric utility industry\, including as General Manager of Belmont Municipal Light Department from 1995 – 2007. \nMost recently\, Tim has worked as Principal of Fundy Power Services\, LLC and at Consulting Engineers Group prior to that. \nTim brings a wealth of both technical and safety expertise to the organization and applies his expertise of both in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-learn approach.

Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division. Dan continues to maintain his 1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. DESCRIPTION:NEPPA’s is pleased to offer the revitalized Substation I Program which is held 3.5-days/week for 4 weeks/year. Substation I is designed to be an introduction to substations including safety\, design\, operation\, equipment and theory. Upon successful completion of the Program\, students are awarded a Certificate of Completion. \nIn addition to in-class lecture\, the Substation I Program incorporates hands-on application of concepts and testing\, field visits and tours of different installations\, and weekly testing including a final exam to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of the course content. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division.  Dan continues to maintain his  1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. DESCRIPTION:NEPPA offers hoisting Continuing Education and Test Prep classes for: \n> Hoisting 1B-1D: hoisting machines\, i.e. cranes and bucket trucks\n> Hoisting 2A-2C: digging machines\, i.e. excavators and backhoes \nPer mandated requirement\, all classes are scheduled for 4 hours. These classes are for both\, continuing education (to renew the license) and the test prep (to prepare for the test to receive a brand-new license). \nONLY test prep attendees are NOT required to attend the full 4 hours of class. \nStudents attending classes for continuing education will need to bring their hoisting license for verification and will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each class. DESCRIPTION:NEPPA has adopted the four-year curriculum of the Northwest Lineman College’s Lineworker Certification Program and combines hands-on and formal classroom training.  Students attend class four times a year for four days each to complete the four-year program. \nIn addition to classroom time\, students are expected to: \nSelf-study by reading the material \nTrack\, record\, and submit monthly apprenticeship reports of on-the-job training \nTrack\, record and submit quarterly “competency” forms \nEach year\, students participate in an additional two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo each year. The Apprentice Rodeo is designed to showcase the apprentices’ developing technical and climbing skills\, and to reinforce the program’s focus on professionalism\, safety\, and proper technique. \nAttendance Policy \nStudents are required to attend all 16-days of the in-class program as well as the two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo.  Any student unable to attend their regularly scheduled class or the Skills Assessment Rodeo is required to make-up the time\, training\, and competencies covered during those class days. DESCRIPTION:NEPPA offers hoisting Continuing Education and Test Prep classes for: \n> Hoisting 1B-1D: hoisting machines\, i.e. cranes and bucket trucks\n> Hoisting 2A-2C: digging machines\, i.e. excavators and backhoes \nPer mandated requirement\, all classes are scheduled for 4 hours. These classes are for both\, continuing education (to renew the license) and the test prep (to prepare for the test to receive a brand-new license). \nONLY test prep attendees are NOT required to attend the full 4 hours of class. \nStudents attending classes for continuing education will need to bring their hoisting license for verification and will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each class. If the hoisting license is not brought to class for verification\, or if the license has been expired for more than a year\, the certificate will not be issued. Prior to joining NEPPA\, Lou spent his 30+ year line career with Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS). \nPrior to being merged with Green Mountain Power\, Central Vermont Public Service Corp. was the largest electricity supplier in Vermont. Its customer base covered 160\,000 people in 163 towns\, villages and cities in Vermont.\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Dennis Regele\n					Technical & Safety Trainer Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor (General Industry) \n					Dennis has been a trainer for the Northeast Public Power Association since November 2018 and travels throughout the Northeast. \nDennis has a Bachelor’s of Science in Natural Science for Worcester State College\, is married and has 3 sons. \nPrior to joining NEPPA\, Dennis started his career in the utility industry in 1984 with Massachusetts Electric (now National Grid). He worked his way up from an apprentice lineworker through crew leader and eventually as Line Supervisor and Safety Supervisor. He then moved on to NSTAR (now Eversource) as a Field/Technical Trainer. \nDennis also spent time with Asplundh Utility Line construction as a Regional Safety Supervisor/Trainer and has served as an OSHA Outreach Trainer for the past 12 years. \nIn addition to training for NEPPA\, Dennis is also a part -time instructor at Quinsigamond Community College with the Energy Utility Program. \n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Tim Richardson\, P.E.\n					Technical & Safety Trainer \n					Tim Richardson joined NEPPA in September of 2019 and has been an asset to the training team. Tim has a long history working in the electric utility industry\, including as General Manager of Belmont Municipal Light Department from 1995 – 2007. \nMost recently\, Tim has worked as Principal of Fundy Power Services\, LLC and at Consulting Engineers Group prior to that. \nTim brings a wealth of both technical and safety expertise to the organization and applies his expertise of both in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-learn approach. \n\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Thomas (Tom) Succi\n					Technical & Safety Trainer \n					Tom has worked in metering in New England for the past 49 years as a meter technician\, instructor\, engineer and manager. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division.  Dan continues to maintain his  1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. SUMMARY:Apprentice Lineworker Program - Year 4
DESCRIPTION:(8:00 am – 2:00 pm) NEPPA has adopted the four-year curriculum of the Northwest Lineman College’s Lineworker Certification Program and combines hands-on and formal classroom training.  Students attend class four times a year for four days each to complete the four-year program. \n*NEW* Beginning in 2021\, each Friday of the session will consist of a virtual review of the week’s material and online testing. SUMMARY:Hoisting 2A-2C Training
DESCRIPTION:NEPPA offers hoisting Continuing Education and Test Prep classes for: \n> Hoisting 1B-1D: hoisting machines\, i.e. cranes and bucket trucks\n> Hoisting 2A-2C: digging machines\, i.e. excavators and backhoes \nPer mandated requirement\, all classes are scheduled for 4 hours. These classes are for both\, continuing education (to renew the license) and the test prep (to prepare for the test to receive a brand-new license). \nONLY test prep attendees are NOT required to attend the full 4 hours of class. \nStudents attending classes for continuing education will need to bring their hoisting license for verification and will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each class. If the hoisting license is not brought to class for verification\, or if the license has been expired for more than a year\, the certificate will not be issued. In this case\, you will have to take the test again. Then he moved over to Burlington Electric in 2002 where he was working as a line foreman. \nPete has an Associate’s degree of applied science in Power Technology and has his Mass. 1B/2A Hoisting License. \nPete currently lives in Winooski\, VT and has been married to his wife\, Mary Ann\, for the past 30 years. They have two children together\, Nathan and Natalie. His hobbies are woodworking\, beekeeper and rabbit hunting with his beagles. \nPete goes on to say\, “teaching has been a big part of my career and NEPPA gives me a chance to continue teaching\, which I love to do!” \n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Dan Flynn\n					Safety & Technical Trainer \n					Dan Flynn has been a safety trainer with Northeast Public Power Association\, since September 2018 after retiring from Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Dept with more than a 40 year career in public power. \nDan started in the electric meter department in the 1970’s and worked his way through the electric line department as a lineman/line foremen and his last position as the electric department superintendent.  Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division.  Dan continues to maintain his  1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. Class A Driving license. \nDan is a lifelong resident of Wakefield\, MA where he lives with his wife Alayne of 39 years they have two adult children. \nHe says “It is a privilege  to continue to be involved with the public power industry in New England to give back any knowledge I’ve acquired over these many years.”\n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Lodging\nLodging is not included in your registration fees and must be arranged directly with the hotel.
