Description
The Sterling Municipal Light Department currently has a position open for a full-time Customer Service Representative / Billing Coordinator.
Primary Duties:
- Perform administrative, technical, and clerical work related to the billing and collection of revenue for electric and broadband services provided by the department.
- Communicate effectively with customers about department policies and services.
- Handle requests and questions about electric and fiber bills or other relevant topics, as well as confidential matters requested by customers.
- Assist the public, department staff, other town departments, vendors, banks, and agencies by processing bills, providing information, and preparing reports.
- Process invoices, final bills, post daily deposits, and keep customer accounts updated.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly balancing of cash accounts.
- Proficiently navigate SMLD’s billing and accounting systems.
- Update the department website as needed. Act as liaison with website maintenance vendor.
- Work with retail and commercial customers on the SMLD NextZero rebate program.
- Conduct other administrative work as needed.
- Represent the Sterling Light Department in a professional manner and contribute to a team-oriented employee atmosphere.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, become knowledgeable about business practices, and keep current on state regulations relating to utility billing.
Requirements:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Experience with the NISC utility billing system a definite plus.
- Education requires a high school diploma, associate degree preferred.
- Work experience should include a minimum of three years of general office, customer service, municipal, or equivalent.
Working Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30am to 4:30pm and Friday 7:30am to 11:30am
Hourly Rate Range: $25.00 to $31.00
