The Town of Danvers - Electric Division seeks applications for the full-time benefitted position of Systems Engineer or well qualified/senior Distribution Engineer. Danvers Electric is the first Municipal Light Plant in Massachusetts and has been committed to providing high quality, reliable and affordable electricity to our customers since 1889. The Senior Distribution/Systems Engineer designs and manages the Town’s overhead, underground, and substation distribution projects. This individual performs short and long-range planning studies and makes system reliability improvement recommendations. This person also will serve as Control Authority and is responsible for system restoration and writing/executing switching orders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required, with a concentration in Power Systems preferred; Seven to ten years of electrical distribution experience.
- Although qualified Systems Engineer applicants are preferred, the Town will consider well-qualified Senior Distribution Engineer applicants with 5-7 years relevant experience as well.
- Three years of experience in project management required; Five years preferred.
- Must be able to obtain Red Tag and High Voltage qualification as determined by the Utility Director within 6 months from date of hire. Must be able to qualify for and function as the Control Authority, as determined by the Utility Director, for the electric distribution system, within one year of the year immediately following Red Tag and High Voltage qualification. This time frame may be extended by the Utility Director under certain circumstances.
