JOB DESCRIPTION FOR
METER TECHNICIAN / STOCKROOM MANAGER
The Hull Municipal Lighting Plant is looking for an experienced meter technician/stock room operator/ general maintenance person to perform a multitude of functions crucial to the operation of the light plant. We are a small municipal light plant with 11 employees, and depend on the performance of each employee for the success of our operations. Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift heavy packages (up to about 50 lbs.) Must be available to work after hours as needed or directed by the Operations Manager. The winning candidate will have completed utility metering courses through NEPPA or other organizations geared towards training utility workers, will be proficient in the use of cloud based software for metering and inventory, will have the ability to use the internet to perform product and service searches as directed, and possess or have the ability to obtain a CDL license.
Some of the duties of this position include:
-Installation and removal of meters.
-Testing of meters.
-Addressing power quality complaints from customers
-Wiring of Instrument transformer rated metering.
-Keeping meter inventory system.
-Power shutoff for non-payment.
-Keeping up to date inventory of all materials used in the day-to-day operations of the Light Plant.
-Keeping an organized stockroom and stockyard.
-Loading and unloading materials from delivery trucks via a forklift, as needed.
-Researching best available products and obtaining competitive pricing from qualified vendors.
-Working with management to prepare and purchase materials for upcoming projects.
-Supporting field workers by delivering materials, as needed.
-Coordinating and scheduling with outside vendors for operational and maintenance issues, including fleet maintenance.
-Driving utility bucket and digger trucks to maintenance facilities, as needed.
-Clearing snow.
-Delivering and picking up various packages from other town departments and post office.
-Other duties as assigned by management.
-Position is hourly with possible overtime work, as needed.
