The Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department (WMGLD) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Office Manager.
Under the direction of the Finance & Customer Service Manager, the Office Manager’s primary area of responsibility is the management and direction of all operations of WMGLD’s Business Office and coordination and direction within the department and with other governmental agencies.
In addition to the Business Office responsibilities, the position oversees and is responsible for customer service, data processing, billing, payroll, accounts payable, revenue, receivables & collection activities, meter reading and general accounting support. Serves as WMGLD’s departmental hearings officer for all customer disputes. The Office Manager assists and advises the Finance & Customer Service Manager in all matters pertaining to customer service, management of office personnel, office procedures, and finances, exercising such authority as delegated. Illustrative duties include analysis & reconciliation of accounts including, but not limited to cash, fixed assets, inventory, debt, payables & receivables, revenues & expenses. Assist with monthly & annual closing of accounting records including report preparation for Board of Commissioners meetings, the annual financial statement audit, DPU Return and other regulatory reporting requirements.
Independent action includes the ability to coordinate and collaborate with other WMGLD supervisory personnel including but not limited to, Engineering & Operations, Gas & Electric Superintendents, Engineering and Substations, Facilities & Procurement. Operate the Business Office independently; recommend and implement changes in policies, procedures, systems, or equipment to meet departmental requirements and goals. Assign and manage work schedules to meet the needs of the Business Office.
Education & technical requirements include an extensive background in business office systems, procedures and equipment with strong writing and keyboarding skills, the ability to prepare and present deliverables in a clear & concise manner, solid interpersonal, organizational and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability to follow-up until a customer problem is resolved and customer is satisfied, The ability to foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment, Spreadsheet and word processing software proficiency is required. The preferred candidate will have a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance and three to five years of related experience.
WMGLD provides an excellent salary & benefits package and is an EOE. Salary range is $101,920.00-$124,404.80.
