The Town of Danvers welcomes applications for the full-time benefitted position of Systems, Distribution, or Electrical Engineer with the Electric Division. The Town of Danvers is a reputable Town on the North Shore, providing a supportive and welcoming environment for Town staff – including a commitment to professional development and policies to support a good work/life balance. The Systems Engineer designs and manages the Town’s distribution projects, including overhead, underground and substation construction. Evaluates the impact of localized load growth of the electrical system; provides recommendations for plans to accommodate such growth. Performs work related to electrical utility in conformance with local, state and federal regulations and codes.
The Town will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required.
Although qualified Systems Engineer applicants are preferred, the Town will consider Electrical Engineers applicants.
Qualifications for Systems Engineer: Desired qualifications include bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required, with a concentration in Power Systems preferred; Seven to ten years of electrical distribution experience. Three years of experience in project management required; Five years preferred. Must be able to obtain Red Tag and High Voltage qualification as determined by the Utility Director within 6 months from date of hire. This position works 35 hours per week.
Systems Engineer union position (Grade 27X) pay scale starting at $116,287 annually, with the ability to move through scale (via step system) to the max step at $150,861. Hiring range DOQ. Once qualified to serve as Control Authority will receive weekly stipend for serving within the on-call rotation. Average on-call responsibility ranges 10-13 weeks annually at current bargained rate of $750/week. Excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance with employer contribution to premium.
Qualifications for Electrical Engineer: Desired Qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, specialization in Power Systems preferred. 0-2 years of experience with electric utility or related field. May Qualify for Red Tag and High Voltage duties determine by the Utility Director.
