
Description
The Sterling Municipal Light Department (SMLD) is seeking a Staff Accountant who will be responsible for the management of our Finance Department for Electric and our new Fiber Division.
Some of the essential duties include:
•Assist the General Manager in developing policies on matters such as finance, annual budget,operations, power use, sales, purchasing and credit and collections.
•Perform monthly cash reconciliation with the town treasurer and accountant.
•Maintain an accurate inventory system.
•Oversee the bi-weekly warrant process for submission to the town.
•Complete management of the financial and accounting systems.
•Prepare reports and financial information and recommendations to management as required.
•Work in conjunction with our auditors to satisfy the year-end closing process.
•Process annual EIA, DPU and other state and federal reports.
•Prepare other A/R invoices.
•Perform other duties as requested by the General Manager.
The qualified candidate should possess excellent supervisory and communication skills, have strong financial, mathematical, and analytical skills. Desirable, but not required, knowledge of the FERC accounting system.
A college degree in Business Administration, an Accounting Degree, or at least five (5) years of financial work experience is required.
