The Town of Danvers seeks applications for the full-time benefitted position of Systems Engineer with the Electric Division. The Systems Engineer designs and manages the Town’s distribution projects, including overhead, underground and substation construction. Evaluates the impact of localized load growth of the electrical system; provides recommendations for plans to accommodate such growth.
The Town will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required. Desired qualifications include bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is required, with a concentration in Power Systems preferred; Seven to ten years of electrical distribution experience. Three years of experience in project management required; Five years preferred. Must be able to obtain Red Tag and High Voltage qualification as determined by the Utility Director within 6 months from date of hire. Must be able to qualify for and function as the Control Authority, as determined by the Utility Director, for the electric distribution system, within one year of the year immediately following Red Tag and High Voltage qualification. This position works 35 hours per week. Union position (Grade 27X) pay scale starting at $102,542 annually, with the ability to move through scale (via step system) to the max step at $133,030 (range increases to $107,473 – $139,426 with a contractual annual compensation pay applied upon hire). Hiring range DOQ. Once qualified to serve as Control Authority will receive weekly stipend for serving within the on-call rotation. Average on-call responsibility ranges 10-13 weeks annually at current bargained rate of $700/week. Excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance with employer contribution to premium.
