DESCRIPTION:NEPPA offers a four-year curriculum of the Northwest Lineman College’s Lineworker Certification Program and combines hands-on and formal classroom training. Students attend class four times a year for four days each to complete the four-year program. \nIn addition to classroom time\, students are expected to: \nSelf-study by reading the material \nTrack\, record\, and submit monthly apprenticeship reports of on-the-job training \nTrack\, record and submit quarterly “competency” forms \nEach year\, students participate in an additional two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo each year. The Apprentice Rodeo is designed to showcase the apprentices’ developing technical and climbing skills\, and to reinforce the program’s focus on professionalism\, safety\, and proper technique. \nAttendance Policy \nStudents are required to attend all 16-days of the in-class program as well as the two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo. Any student unable to attend their regularly scheduled class or the Skills Assessment Rodeo is required to make-up the time\, training\, and competencies covered during those class days. DESCRIPTION:NEPPA offers hoisting Continuing Education and Test Prep classes for: \n> Hoisting 1B-1D: hoisting machines\, i.e. cranes and bucket trucks\n> Hoisting 2A-2C: digging machines\, i.e. excavators and backhoes \nPer mandated requirement\, all classes are scheduled for 4 hours. These classes are for both\, continuing education (to renew the license) and the test prep (to prepare for the test to receive a brand-new license). \nONLY test prep attendees are NOT required to attend the full 4 hours of class. \nStudents attending classes for continuing education will need to bring their hoisting license for verification and will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each class. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division.  Dan continues to maintain his  1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. Any student unable to attend their regularly scheduled class or the Skills Assessment Rodeo is required to make-up the time\, training\, and competencies covered during those class days. SUMMARY:Public Power Utility Program (PUMP) - Session II
DESCRIPTION:NEPPA is pleased to offer the Public Utility Management Program (PUMP) again in 2023.  The (PUMP) begins in April and ends in November. It features 6 days of in-person training sessions and new this year two additional 1/2-day-virtual sessions\, The in-person sessions will be held on April 11 – 13 and October 31 – November 2\, 2023 at the NEPPA Training Center (200 New Estate Road\, Littleton\, MA 01460).  Each of these 3-day session will include information on leadership challenges\, best practices\, knowledge/skill/behavior development\, and practical applications. The virtual sessions will be held on June 1\, 2023 and September 14\, 2023. Each ½-day virtual session will cover additional presentation content that is of interest to the participants\, along with application of learning with coaching and sharing of experiences based on individual learning plan objectives and assignments. \nPUMP is a robust course of study and interaction which covers a variety of management\, leadership\, and operations disciplines necessary for leaders of Public Power\, today and in the future.  Due to the extremely interactive nature of this training experience\, class size is limited. \nUpon successful completion of the Program\, participants will have gained 39 Professional Development Hours\, a Certificate of Completion and special recognition for completing the Program.\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Who Should Attend\nTo help position public power to address the growing number of retirements and position changes in the industry\, PUMP is designed for anyone who wants to learn what it takes to be an effective leader including: \n\nGeneral Managers\nGeneral Foremen\nAssistant General Managers\nSupervisors\nManagers or Team Leads\nAspiring Leaders\n\nThe Program is designed to address varying levels of experience and perspectives\, from utilities of varying sizes and complexities. He is a recognized expert in safety and OSHA compliance. \nIn his former role as Director of Training\, he is responsible for development and quality of safety & technical programs. He also oversees the line-workers’ school and teaches utility management and supervision\, electronic controls and power-line operation programs. \nRecognized as an industry leader and expert Steve has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Northeast Public Power Association and been recognized by the Maine State Legislature for his previous 30 Years of Distinguished Service. DESCRIPTION:NEPPA’s is pleased to offer the revitalized Substation I Program which is held 3.5-days/week for 4 weeks/year. Substation I is designed to be an introduction to substations including safety\, design\, operation\, equipment and theory. Upon successful completion of the Program\, students are awarded a Certificate of Completion. \nIn addition to in-class lecture\, the Substation I Program incorporates hands-on application of concepts and testing\, field visits and tours of different installations\, and weekly testing including a final exam to demonstrate knowledge and comprehension of the course content. DESCRIPTION:Based on member demand\, NEPPA is pleased to be offering a brand-new Introduction to Electrical Hazards & Safety Training course being held May 23 – 25\, 2023 at the NEPPA Training Center (200 New Estate Road\, Littleton\, MA 01460). \nIntroduction to Electrical Hazards & Safety Training is designed for new hires in the electric and telecommunications industries. Participants may elect to attend one and/or two-days of the program. \nTopics covered in this program meet the introductory standards required to enter these industries. Substitutions may be made at any time prior to the start of the class.   \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Instructors \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Dan Flynn\n					Certified Medic First Aid Trainer for First Aid\, CPR\, AED \n					Dan Flynn has been a safety trainer with Northeast Public Power Association\, since September 2018 after retiring from Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Dept with more than a 40-year career in public power. \nDan started in the electric meter department in the 1970’s and worked his way through the electric line department as a lineman/line foremen and his last position as the electric department superintendent. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction\, maintenance\, and safety of the electric line division. Dan continues to maintain his 1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. The Apprentice Rodeo is designed to showcase the apprentices’ developing technical and climbing skills\, and to reinforce the program’s focus on professionalism\, safety\, and proper technique. \nAttendance Policy \nStudents are required to attend all 16-days of the in-class program as well as the two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo. Any student unable to attend their regularly scheduled class or the Skills Assessment Rodeo is required to make-up the time\, training\, and competencies covered during those class days.
