2024 Apprentice Lineworker Program Skill Assessment Rodeo

NEPPA’s annual Apprentice Lineworker Program Skill Assessment Rodeo will be held Wednesday, June 5 – Thursday, June 6, 2024 at NEPPA’s Training Center (200 New Estate Road, Littleton, MA 01460).
Each year, students from our apprentice lineworker program participate in a two-day Skills Assessment Rodeo. The Apprentice Rodeo is designed to showcase the apprentices’ developing technical and climbing skills, and to reinforce the program’s focus on professionalism, safety, and proper technique.
Managers, supervisors, guests, students and vendors are welcome to this event. Please RSVP in advance to communications@neppa.org and check-in at the registration desk upon arrival.

7:30 am Registration Opens
(Students must sign in upon arrival)
8:30 am Opening Ceremony
8:40 am Year 1 & 2 students report to classrooms 1 & 2 immediately after ceremony for written test
9:00 am Events begin

All events are one-man events. Scoring is based on the safe and accurate completion of each event. Time is only used as a tiebreaker. See Apprentice Rodeo Booklet for event descriptions.

GENERAL RULES
- Everyone inside the pole yard area MUST WEAR Hardhats and Safety Glasses
- Gloves are required on some events.
- Each pole MUST BE Sounded before climbing
- Climbers MUST HAVE GAFF GUARDS ON when walking to/from each event or REMOVE climbers! DQ may result
- Fall arrest device must be in position to prevent fall at all times!! NO CHEATING!! The green strap of the BuckSqueeze must always contact the pole.
- *** Horseplay and unprofessional behavior will not be tolerated. ***
- Each participant must complete all required events.
- Complete STOP on WHISTLE!
