60th Anniversary Memorial Bench
After reviewing many ideas for how to recognize Northeast Public Power Association’s 60th Anniversary milestone, we have decided to mark the occasion with a memorial bench dedicated to Public Power Employees. This one-of-a-kind bench will serve to celebrate the spirit of Public Power, recognizing those who have dedicated their lives to keeping the lights on in their communities.
Making the Bench
The fully constructed bench will be revealed at our 60th Anniversary celebration,
to be held at the NEPPA training facility in early November 2025 (more details to come).
MADE BY A FRIEND OF PUBLIC POWER
We have enlisted Jim Binkley to help us construct this memorial bench. Jim retired as the Electric Superintendent of Scottsburg, Indiana, and entered the National Lineman Hall of Fame in October, 2021. His two sons climb for the local utilities (one a co-op and one a municipal). He is a friend of Public Power who has produced some excellent items over the years, from IMEA’s/APPA’s Rodeo trophies to a memorial bench to honor a fallen lineworker. We are excited for Jim to bring his craftmanship to this special project.
PIECES TOUCHED BY MEMBERS
Jim uses salvage materials in his work and we would like for this 68″ bench to be made with items from our members. We are accepting donations of used crossarms, poles, insulators, meters, braces etc. to include in the construction of this bench, with the idea that the bench would be a culmination of items touched NEPPA members. The bench pictured here is a sample of what Jim has done in the past.
Memorial Bench Fundraiser
In order to fund this bench, we are looking for member donations. See below for details on our fundraising campaign.
ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO DONATE WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:
– Your name will be included, along with your donation tier designation, on the dedication plaque to be displayed at the NEPPA Training Center in Littleton, MA.
– You will recieve recognition on our website, email communications and verbally at our bench dedication ceremony.
– You are invited to attend our 60th Anniversary Celebration event in November (more details to come).
