Crew Leadership

September 15 – 17, 2026 – NEPPA’s Training Center (200 New Estate Rd., Littleton, MA)
3-day program (8:00 am – 2:00 pm)

The Crew Leadership Program is meant to equip participants with next-level leadership tools to run stronger crews, improve performance in the field, and drive efficient, standards-compliant operations. 

Upon successful completion of the Program, students are awarded a Certificate of Completion.

Who Should Attend

This program is designed for the following:

  • Current or aspiring crew leaders
  • Lineworkers or operations employees
  • Employees or Supervisors transitioning from other departments
  • Construction Supervisors
  • Project Managers

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this two-day program, participants will be able to successfully:

  1. Develop an understanding of different leadership styles and their applications in a crew setting.
  2. Practice tactics and strategies to transition from an employee to a leader.
  3. Cultivate practical communication skills to convey instructions, provide feedback, and resolve conflicts within the crew.
  4. Enhance problem-solving abilities to address challenges and obstacles that arise during crew activities.
  5. Acquire knowledge of team dynamics and how to foster a positive and productive work environment within the crew.
  6. Learn techniques for motivating and inspiring crew members to achieve common goals and objectives.
  7. Gain proficiency in decision-making processes relevant to crew operations, considering safety, efficiency, and resource management factors.
  8. Develop organizational skills to plan and coordinate crew tasks, schedules, and resources effectively.
  9. Understand the importance of accountability and responsibility as a leader within the crew, including the ability to take ownership of mistakes and learn from them.
  10. Explore strategies for building trust and rapport among crew members to enhance collaboration and cohesion.
  11. Evaluate personal leadership strengths and areas for growth and create a plan for continuous self-improvement as a crew leader.
  12. Understand the management of emergent situations that require mutual aid assistance and coordination.

Please note: These objectives serve as a framework for a comprehensive crew leadership course that addresses various aspects of leadership within the utility.

Course Prerequisites

The ideal participant has at least 3 – 5 years experience working in the field. 

 

Registration Fees

Registration fees include coffee and Lunch each day. If you have any dietary restrictions or considerations, please make note on your registration form.

Members: $995
Non-Members: $1,550

Cancellations

Cancellations are accepted until two week prior to the class start date. Substitutions can be made at any time prior to the start of the first session.

Codie Perry

Manager of Safety & Training, Northeast Public Power Association

Codie graduated from Pratt Community College Line School in 2014 with an associate degree in Electrical Power Technology. He then worked for Kay Electric Cooperative in Blackwell, Oklahoma, where he spent 11 years. In that time, he received his Lineworker Certificate from Northwest Lineman College. In 2019, Codie received the “Above and Beyond” Award from the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives for providing emergency care for an individual in a vehicle accident while he was on the job. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with my family. Codie is NEPPA’s Manager of Safety and Training, moving to New Hampshire in early 2025 to join the NEPPA team.
