@Your-Site Virtual: APPA Safety Manual I (NEW date)

At NEPPA, we are committed to helping our members enhance their safety awareness and develop effective training and risk management programs to better prepare and protect their organizations and employees.

As part of our commitment to our members to provide high-quality technical and safety training, particularly in the shadows of COVID-19, we are pleased to continue offering a new series of live, instructor-led @Your-Site Virtual Training sessions.

Participants may register for either an individual session, for the Spring/Fall Series (8 Session Each) or for the full 2022 Series (16 Total Sessions):

@Your-Site: Virtual – Session Schedule & Length All sessions will be recorded and made available to any registrants unable to participate at the time of the training. Sessions are scheduled for 90-minutes which includes 15-minutes for Q&A. Recordings are available for 1-year after the date of broadcast.

Once NEPPA receives and processes your registration, participants will receive an auto-generated email with unique login credentials to access each of the individual the sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many @Your-Site: Virtual Training sessions are offered per year?

A: For now, NEPPA is planning to offer a total of 16 @Your-Site: Virtual Training sessions in 2022. The per person registration fees are:

NEPPA Members: $50 per person, per class, $380 for each series (8 classes), or $740 for the full series (16 classes)
Non-Members: $100 per person, per class, $740 for each series (8 classes), or $1,5400 for the full series (16 classes)

Q: How long is each class?

A: Each class is scheduled for a total of 90-minutes which includes a 15-minute, live Q&A.

Q: Are @Your-Site: Virtual Training Sessions live or pre-recorded?

A: The @Your-Site: Virtual Training sessions are live, instructor-led training sessions. For any registrants unable to participate live, the sessions are recorded and will be made available after the class. Recordings are available for 1-year after the date of broadcast.

Q: Is this a group registration or do registrants complete class individually?

A: In order to receive a certificate of completion, participants need to register for the sessions individually. Certificates of completion only display the registrant’s name. That being said, you do have the ability to register multiple individuals either one at a time, or in bulk by submitting a roster to NEPPA. Certificates of completion are only available upon completion of the course.

Q: Do registrants receive a Certificate of Completion?

A: At the completion of the course, registrants will receive an email including a printable Certificate of Completion which includes their name and session title.

Q: Are @Your-Site: Virtual Training Sessions recorded?

A: The @Your-Site: Virtual Training sessions will be recorded and made available to registrants after the program.

Q: Are there set dates for @Your-Site: Virtual Training, or do participants login at their own convenience?

A: Since these are live, instructor-led sessions, participants are expected to join according to the schedule once published. Recordings will be made available for anyone unable to join on the specified training date.

Q: Are the 2021 @Your-Site Virtual recordings still available?

A: Yes, NEPPA will continue to process registrations to access the 2021 @Your-Site Virtual Training sessions of the following topics:

Steve Socoby

Steve Socoby

Safety & Technical Trainer, CUSP & Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor (Construction)

Steve has 36 years of hands on experience in all facets of operations, of public power utilities including: Line Superintendent; supervision of crews, maintenance, new construction, reliability and associated plant & sub-station responsibilities. He is a recognized expert in safety and OSHA compliance.

In his role of Director of Training, he is responsible for development and quality of safety & technical programs. He also oversees the line-workers’ school and teaches utility management and supervision, electronic controls and power-line operation programs.

Recognized as an industry leader and expert Steve has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Northeast Public Power Association and been recognized by the Maine State Legislature for his previous 30 Years of Distinguished Service. Steve attended the University of Maine at Orono.

Linda Calderiso

Linda Calderiso

Trainer, Certified American Heart Associaiotn & Medic First Aid Trainer for First Aid, CPR, AED

Linda Calderiso has been a trainer with the Northeast Public Power Association since November 2000 and brings energy and professionalism to all the sessions she teaches.

As NEPPA’s primary First Aid, CPR and AED instructor, Linda is instrumental in ensuring NEPPA members meet their annual requirements in an engaging and fun learning environment.

Dan Flynn

Dan Flynn

Technical & Safety Trainer

Dan Flynn has been a safety trainer with Northeast Public Power Association, since September 2018 after retiring from Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Dept with more than a 40 year career in public power.

Dan started in the electric meter department in the 1970’s and worked his way through the electric line department as a lineman/line foremen and his last position as the electric department superintendent. Some of Dan’s responsibilities covered construction, maintenance, and safety of the electric line division. Dan continues to maintain his 1B/2A Mass. hoisting license and a Mass. Class A Driving license. Dan is a lifelong resident of Wakefield, Ma where he lives with his wife Alayne of 39 years they have two adult children. He says “It is a privilege to continue to be involved with the public power industry in New England to give back any knowledge I’ve acquired over these many years.”

Lou Gabriele

Lou Gabriele

Technical & Safety Trainer, Certified American Heart Association & Medic First Aid Trainer for First Aid, CPR, AED

Lou Gabriele has been a technical and safety trainer with NEPPA for over 20 years. Prior to joining NEPPA, Lou spent his 30+ year line career with Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS). Prior to being merged with Green Mountain Power, Central Vermont Public Service Corp. was the largest electricity supplier in Vermont. Its customer base covered 160,000 people in 163 towns, villages and cities in Vermont.
Tim Richardson

Tim Richardson

P.E.,Technical & Safety Trainer

Tim Richardson joined NEPPA in September of 2019 and has been an asset to the training team. Tim has a long history working in the electric utility industry, including as General Manager of Belmont Municipal Light Department from 1995 – 2007.

Most recently, Tim has worked as Principal of Fundy Power Services, LLC and at Consulting Engineers Group prior to that. Tim brings a wealth of both technical and safety expertise to the organization and applies his expertise of both in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-learn approach.
