Description
The Town of Groton, MA Electric Light Department is seeking applicants for the position of Apprentice Lineworker.
Completion of high school, trade school, or equivalent education with a diploma or GED is necessary. Applicant must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test; and must reside within a 30-minute commute of Groton Electric’s office and garage facility in Groton, MA. Applicant must hold a valid driver’s license and must obtain a Class B CDL (commercial driver’s license) with airbrake endorsement within 12 months and a Massachusetts DPS Hoisting Engineers License 1B/2A within six months of hire. The successful candidate must be able to perform strenuous labor tasks and be available for extended hours when required.
Job requirements include but are not limited to, maintenance of overhead and underground lines with voltages up to 13.8 kV, operating mechanical equipment, record keeping of stock, pole setting, and pole climbing, as well as the ability to frequently lift heavy objects.
The successful applicant will learn through on-the-job training and must also complete a utility-designated lineworker training program.
