HUDSON LIGHT AND POWER DEPARTMENT
Class A Lineman
The Hudson Light and Power Department (HLPD), located in Hudson Massachusetts, is seeking to fill a Class A Lineman position at its Forest Avenue facility.
This position will report to the General Line Foreman via the Crew Chief and Head Lineman or their designees.
DUTIES:
- Construct and maintain an overhead distribution system.
- Construct and maintain an underground distribution system.
- Construct and maintain substations.
- Read plans and drawings.
- Keep accurate and intelligible records as required by the General Line Foreman.
- Supervise and assist lower grade linemen.
- Assist in the constructing and maintaining of the General Plant.
- Assist in Customer Relations and Public Relations.
- Be knowledgeable of all distribution circuit layouts on HLPD electrical system.
- Operate all equipment and motor vehicles including pulling of conductors on overhead and underground line work and train others to operate this equipment.
- Perform necessary switching and servicing in connection with the clearing of fault conditions and the maintaining or restoring of service to overhead and underground plant and apparatus.
- Render first aid treatment.
- Perform duties as a Trouble-man on a rotating basis.
- Be available for emergency calls during non-working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Have the ability to perform heavy physical work outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods; including at heights.
- Have a minimum of one year of the rating of Class B or equivalent.
- Have a working knowledge of electricity.
- Have and maintain a valid Massachusetts CDL License with HAZ-MAT endorsement if required.
- Have a High School, Trade School, or equivalent education.
- Have ability to climb utility poles.
- Have complete knowledge of the entire Light Department operations.
- Have the ability to train others.
- Must have and maintain a valid Hoisting License.
- Must reside within 15 miles of HLPD Offices with a 30 minute call out response time or move within 6 months to be compliant.
