General Description
Under the direction of the GIS Manager or assigned supervisor, the Damage Prevention Specialist is responsible for identifying and locating NPU utility infrastructure by referencing records, GIS mapping and using mark-out industry detection equipment. The Damage Prevention Specialist also works with all operational field crews, engineering and GIS staff to generate and maintain records of projects and services. Efforts include drawing and document identification, electronic and hardcopy filing, assistance in field activities including GPS data collection, site inspection and customer visits.
Qualifications
An Associate Degree from a recognized college or university OR a minimum of 3 years utility experience that demonstrates knowledge in above areas may be substituted for the educational requirements. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Connecticut Driver’s license. Must obtain operator qualifications within 6 months of appointment and maintain qualifications in accordance with NPU Operator Qualification policies for covered tasks assigned to the position.
