TITLE: POWER SUPPLY ANALYST DIVISION: POWER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SALARY: GRADE E11 ($104,443-$124,394) LOCATION: PEABODY MUNICIPAL LIGHT PLANT FACILITIES SHIFT: EXEMPT POSITION CIVIL SERVICE CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT
DUTIES: The Power Supply Analyst (PSA) will work under Power Resource Manager (PRM)'s supervision, assisting with planning, organizing, providing direction, control, and exercising technical and analytical oversight of the Power Resource Department, which includes administering all company policies and procedures, ensuring that safety requirements are maintained, preparing and submitting required records and reports, working with the PRM and staff to prepare and administer Annual Budget and Action Plans, designing and presenting comprehensive power supply forecasts and annual revenue projections for the entire company, incorporating market trends, contract obligations, demand forecasts, and regulatory constraints, evaluating operational performance using quantitative metrics and qualitative assessments, recommending policy or process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and service quality, developing, recommending, and implementing the most reliable and cost-effective internal and external power supply program within the established goals and mission of the company, liaisoning with consultants, regulatory agencies, and any organizations affecting power supply and load management programs, working with the PRM and staff to procure all energy and capacity-related products through power supply contracts and the ISO New England interchange, performing monthly calculations and recommending adjustments to the purchased power and fuel cost adjustment, preparing and submitting detailed reports for state and federal governing agencies as needed, working with the PRM to develop and review power supply and transmission contracts, recommending modifications to optimize cost and reliability in existing contracts, working with the PRM to develop and implement generation projects, including combustion turbines, diesel, renewable, and cogeneration projects, evaluating and recommending purchases and sales of power supply contracts, providing analysis of energy market pricing behavior, working with agencies to assess operational impacts, and develop procedures to maintain compliance, forecast power system load requirements, assisting in providing oversight to company's joint action agency to ensure its cost effectiveness, assisting the PRM and the Energy Conservation Specialist with creating effective residential, commercial, and industrial energy conservation programs, assisting with oversight of company's energy conservation effort, including the demand side for large and small customers, monitoring and working with vendors to help resolve any and disputes needed to protect the interest of the company, responding to emergency calls 24/7 for Power Resource Management matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or closely related quantitative field is required.
Ability to work with large datasets from multiple sources and reconcile data discrepancies.
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, and VBA to automate complex processes.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI and techniques to effectively communicate analyses to diverse audiences.
Ability to integrate multi-source datasets, perform complex reconciliations, and develop predictive models under uncertainty.
Expertise in wholesale electricity market operations, regulatory compliance frameworks (NERC, NPCC), and risk management for long-term procurement preferred.
One year experience in the power supply industry and data analysis preferred.
