Description
The Telecommunications Lineman is responsible for building, repairing and maintaining poles, cables and conduits for cables. The position also involves the pulling/placing or blowing fiber optic cable in the telecom space, both aerial and underground, including ISP work, and other duties as assigned. Telecommunications Linemen are responsible for maintaining the safety of the crew by providing direction regarding procedures, road safety, manhole safety and general on-site project oversight. Telecommunications Linemen are also responsible for the daily record keeping (fiber route details, slack locations, splice locations, material inventory, DOT vehicle inspections, tailboards, etc.)
Responsibilities:
- Safely install, repair, and maintain fiber optic cables in the Comm Space.
- Operate aerial lifts and other equipment in compliance with OSHA standards and 1910.268 regulations.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, local, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain and operate commercial vehicles according to DOT regulations.
- Communicate professionally with customers to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
- Manage variable schedules, including on-call rotations, nights, and weekends as needed.
