OSHA Training

NEPPA is pleased to offer Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Courses throughout the year to ensure members meet the industry requirements set by OSHA 1910.269. In addition to offering OSHA Fundamentals 1, 2, 3 and 4, NEPPA also offers OSHA-10 General Industry and OSHA-10 Construction T&D. 

OSHA Fundamentals Courses

NEPPA’s OSHA Fundamentals courses were developed to enable members to cover annually required topics in one longer session
(vs. multiple 3-hour programs). These courses can be held at your site or at the NEPPA Training Center in Littleton, MA. 
  1. OSHA Fundamentals 1 (4 – 6 hrs):
    **REQUIRED EACH YEAR**
    Hazardous Communication (HazCom i.e. Right to Know), Blood Borne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation
  2. OSHA Fundamentals 2 (4 – 6 hrs):
    **REQUIRED EACH YEAR**
    Emergency Action & Evac. Plans, Fire Prevention Plan, Fire Extinguishers, Ladder Safety, Walking & Working Surfaces, Silica Protection
  3. OSHA Fundamentals 3 (4 – 6 hrs, for rescue practical):
    **RECCOMENDED EACH YEAR**
    Lock Out/ Tag Out (LOTO), Switching & Tagging, and Job Briefings
  4. OSHA Fundamentals 4 (5 – 6 hrs):
    **REQUIRED EVERY 3 YEARS & FOR NEW EMPLOYEES**
    Forklift Training & Practical Demonstration

OSHA Fundamentals @ Your Site Registration for 2025:

  • NEPPA Members (Utility & Affiliate)
    9 or more participants is $150 per person. 8 or less participants is a $1,200 flat fee.
  • Non-Members
    9 or more participants is $275 per person. 8 or less participants is a $2,200 flat fee. 

    OSHA-10 General Industry Course

    OSHA 10 General Industry is a 2-day course held at the NEPPA Training Center in Littleton, MA. Each day is 5 hours of training and includes lunch each day. The goal is to have a heightened awareness of the hazards associated with electric utility work and understand control measures to avoid injuries. Each participant will be given an OSHA 10-Hour Card after successful completion.

    OSHA-10 Plus T&D (Transmission and Distribution)

    OSHA-10 Plus T&D is a 2-day course held at the NEPPA Training Center in Littleton, MA. Each day is 5 hours of training and includes lunch each day. This course includes general OSHA safety training as well as specific OSHA construction training focused on transmission and distribution. Each participant will be given an OSHA 10-Hour Card after successful completion. The Course Overview below is subject to change

      • Introduction to OSHA
        – General Duty Clause
        – Employee rights and multi-employer workplaces

           – Record keeping
           – Penalties & citations
           – Competent person requirements
           – OSHA Resources
      • Training & qualification requirements
      • Health hazards including Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Communications, Noise Hazards, and Silica Hazards.
      • Hand tools and portable generators
      • Hazards including equipment and Trenching

       

      • Fall protection and ladders
      • Electrical hazards, Personal Protective Equipment, Conduction effective job briefings
      • Enclosed Space vs. Confined Space and Underground System Safety including rescue systems
      • Working on or near exposed energized parts
      • Struck-by hazards: Pole setting and tower installations
      • De-energizing lines and equipment, and grounding for protection
      • Substation safety
      • Gradient potential hazards

      OSHA-10 Plus T&D Registration Fees for 2025:

      Members: $155
      Non-Members: $280

      OSHA-10 Construction

      OSHA-10 Construction is a 2-day course held at the NEPPA Training Center in Littleton, MA. Each day is 5 hours of training and includes lunch each day. This course includes OSHA safety training as well as specific OSHA training focused on the construction industry. Each participant will be given an OSHA 10-Hour Card after successful completion.         Who Should Attend:

        This course is recommended for lineworkers, operations or field personnel.

         

        Prerequisites:

        There are no prerequisites for this course.
