NEPPA staff will assess an utility employee based on the standards and curriculum of the Apprentice Program. There are 3 types of assessments with different purposes and requirements, explained below. Use this form to request one to be scheduled.

Apprentice Lineworker Program Entrance Assessment – for individuals with knowledge and experience who wish to enter the Apprentice Lineworker Program at a later level. The assessment would involve hands-on and knowledge testing and the score would determine if they could start the program at year 2, 3 or 4. Please note: In this case NEPPA and Northwest Lineman College would be able to provide a certificate for just the years completed. A 4-year completion certificate from Northwest Lineman College will not be issued.

Prequalification Testing (for 4-year Certificate Program) – for individuals with knowledge and experience who wish to enter NEPPA’s Apprentice Lineworker Program at Year 2 of the program but still wish to receive a 4-year completion certificate through Northwest Lineman College. Please note: NEPPA, along with their partner Northwest Lineman College, will accept a student advancing directly to Year 2 of the Apprentice Lineworker Program if they have either completed the Northwest Lineman College 15 week (500hr) course or a 15 week (500hr) course from a provider other than NWLC, if after careful consideration by NWLC and examination of the curriculum, it is approved by NWLC to be acceptable and the student has provided proof of attendance and passing grade. Student will also have to pass a NEPPA hands-on and knowledge test assessment.

The Lineworker Evaluation - for utilities who wish to test an employee’s knowledge and abilities to get an idea of their current skill level. This evaluation involves hand-on and knowledge testing based on NEPPA’s Apprentice Program curriculum but is not for the purpose of placement in NEPPA’s program.
