Description
Lineperson – Journeyman or Apprentice (Union Position) Hardwick Electric Department (HED) is seeking an experienced 1st Class Journeyman or Apprentice Lineperson to join our 6-person Electric Operations crew. The team maintains and improves 325 miles of overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines, providing safe and reliable electric service to 4,350 customers.
Responsibilities:
•Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground lines.
•Work safely within established industry practices.
•Climb poles; use hand tools (chainsaws, shovels, etc.); handle ropes and knots; dig holes.
•Assist with tree trimming and work in all weather conditions for extended hours.
•Participate in on-call rotation and respond within 30 minutes.
•Perform or learn to work on energized 15 kV lines.
•Apprentices must attend the Vermont state apprenticeship program.
Requirements:
•Ability to meet physical demands and pass a physical and drug test.
•Professional, courteous, safety-focused work ethic.
•Ability to obtain a Vermont Class A CDL within one year.
•Must join the IBEW union after six months of employment.
