There is one full time vacancy for Motor Equipment Repairman in the Distribution Department.  This position reports to the General Foreman.  The wage rate is $48.77 per hour minimum and $57.37 per hour maximum.   Future wage levels are dependent on labor negotiations.

 

Job Description:

  • Perform skilled repair and maintenance of motorized and heavy equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to aerial lifts, derricks and associated heavy equipment including troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic systems including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pistons.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines.
  • Perform tune-ups, repair electrical systems; adjust brakes and engines, front-end and chassis work such as control arms, ball joints and springs, repair and/or remove and replace transmissions, remove and disassemble diesel and gasoline engines; replace faulty or worn parts; perform engine overhauls; change tires; perform body work, welding and metal-working duties are required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as lubrication, replacing oil and air filters, steam cleaning and other similar duties.
  • Coordinate and inspect work performed by outside repair shops on all vehicles.
  • Maintain repair, refueling and maintenance records; maintain necessary inventory records of replacement stock.
  • Test and troubleshoot computer systems and sensors in all vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must be certified and have seven (7) years of paid full-time experience (10 years preferred) in gasoline and diesel engine and hydraulic systems repair.   Seven (7) years’ experience required in troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on electronic engines and transmissions. Certification is preferred in electronic control systems for vehicles and welding.  Applicants must be capable of performing physical work and must possess CDL Class B motor vehicle operator’s license. Applicants shall obtain a Class A CDL and a Class 1B and 3A hoisting license within six to twelve months of appointment.  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
