GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Technical Services Asset Manager, performs a variety of operating tasks in the testing, maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation associated with the Advanced Metering Infrastructure system, including system equipment located within high voltage substations. Performs meter services including trouble calls, shut-offs, and special readings. Works in accordance with applicable Town rules and regulations and provisions of Massachusetts General Laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

● Receives work assignments from Technical Services Asset Manager and/or written job order. Assists in preparing equipment and materials for work assignment.

● Performs work on all types of meters (120V to 23kV), single phase/poly phase, up to 600V live; primary meter hook-ups (deenergized); performs meter evaluations and change-outs; performs A-Base meter wiring to voltage and current transformers, physical connection to line and potential power, pulse meters, meter programming, and mesh network collectors and repeaters; data transfer cabling or Radio Frequency.

● Responsible for maintaining meter inventory, including meters, current transformers, voltage transformers, seals, covers, transformer enclosures, collectors, repeaters, and all other material and testing equipment as assigned.

● Performs routine inspections of all demand meters. Checks diagnostic readouts and maintains tamper evident report log. Generates Service Orders as necessary.

● Disconnects utility services for non-payment of customer accounts and reconnects service as instructed.

● Supports efficiency, load management, and distributed generation program designs by coordinating meter functions and capabilities; ensures appropriate inventory of meters for programs.

● Supports distribution engineering efforts with coordination of data gathering from remote devices through metering systems as appropriate.

● Performs Radio Programming and Radio Frequency (RF) troubleshooting. Works with spectrometer and signal analyzer to identify signal to noise ratio and work towards resolving radio interferences.

● Supports Testing and Troubleshooting meters and other AMI infrastructure. Maintains software upgrades as they become available.

● Assists Engineering and Line Operations with customer requests, which may include loss of power low or high voltage, radio or television interference, etc.

● Responsible for completing and maintaining all necessary reports and records associated with the testing, repair, and maintenance of all meters and equipment.

● Upon receiving High Voltage Rubber Glove certification, may be required to serve as qualified second person on a switching crew for storm or other emergency situations as deemed by management.

● Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $46.45 - $50.36 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime

  • Danvers, MA 01923: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Electrical/Utility hands on experience
  • Network support
  • radio network management
  • GIS: 1 year
