Wage: $60.26/hour (2025), $62.55/hour (2026)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Hourly (Union Position)

About Hardwick Electric Department (HED):
HED is a public utility serving approximately 4,800 customers in Hardwick and surrounding areas in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Our service territory includes rural communities and small towns, with a focus on reliability, safety, and community service. We operate a hydroelectric facility, substation, and maintain over 326 utility acres of utility infrastructure.
Position Overview:
The Working Foreman is a union leadership role responsible for supervising line crews and performing duties as Head Lineman. This position ensures safe and efficient field operations, supports storm restoration, and serves as a liaison between management and crew members. The Working Foreman may assume department leadership in the absence of the Utility Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and train line personnel.
- Lead construction and maintenance projects.
- Ensure safety compliance and job site organization.
- Manage scheduling, documentation, and crew productivity.
- Respond to outages and emergency calls.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Certified First-Class Journeyman Lineman.
- Minimum 5 years of electric utility experience, including 1 year of supervisory experience.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certified.
- Valid Vermont driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
Union Affiliation:
This position is represented by IBEW Local 300 and follows the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
