Summary:
Georgetown Municipal Light Department (GMLD) serves 3,500 electric customers in the town of Georgetown, MA. GMLD has annual sales of 48,000 MWhs, and revenue of $8,000,000. Two substations located in the town distribute voltage at 13.8KV.
The Business Manager performs a full range of administrative, clerical and technical tasks related to customer accounts, collection of bills, customer relations, and payment entries for electric customers. As Business Manager, you provide support to GMLD staff, board members, and the public by managing inquiries, addressing sensitive or complex requests, and communicating on behalf of the General Manager. Research, prioritize, and follow up on issues with the ability to independently determine appropriate actions or responses, while maintaining exceptional customer service support. Responsibilities:
• Lead, manage, and remain accountable for the Business Department.
• Deliver excellent customer service by responding to phone calls, in-person inquiries, and other concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure all customer account records and organizational information are accurate, up to date, and accessible to appropriate personnel.
• Work effectively in a multi-tasking environment and maintain clear communication across all methods and platforms.
• Prepare and reconcile departmental financial statements, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank statements, and payroll on a monthly basis in coordination with the Business Coordinator, Town Accountant, and Town Treasurer.
• Oversee the annual audit process and review the final Audit Report.
• Responsible for maintaining and enhancing billing software, GIS, AMI, and additional technology systems to ensure efficient operations.
• Provide support during emergency events, including off-hours or unplanned work, as needed.

Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
o 5+ years’ experience with a focus on customer service, billing, and accounting functions. Utility experience preferred.
o Familiarity with additional business/accounting software programs is preferable
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications is expected
o Experienced with customer billing software, information systems, GIS, and website design / maintenance
o Detail oriented, must be able to multitask and have a pleasant demeanor both on the telephone and when interacting with the general public and fellow employees.
o Must be positive, energetic, personable, excellent communicator, self-disciplined, and possess a strong ethical foundation

Working Conditions:
• Position generally works out of an office environment with moderate noise levels.
• Frequent periods at computer terminal or on telephone or operating two-way radio equipment.

Rate of Pay: $47.41 - $50.79
Reports to: General Manager and interacts with Distribution Superintendent
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes
Hours: 40 plus overtime - Work Week: Monday through Thursday, 7AM – 5PM
