NEPPA’s IT Roundtable is an opportunity for small group discussion among those interested in technology related topics. The facilitator will encourage and prompt exploration of the topic. Attendee participation is vital to the success of each roundtable. Participants should arrive ready to be actively engaged.

    Executive Director, Northeast Public Power Association

    Michael ‘Mike’ Hyland is currently the Executive Director of the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA), located in Littleton, Massachusetts. Mike took over the helm of NEPPA in May 2022 after a 40 year utility career that started inside a #6 fuel oil generation plant at Philadelphia Electric.

    Prior to his role at NEPPA, Mike was the Energy & Technical Programs Manager for the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) in Hughesville, Maryland, and his main responsibility was the oversight of the Solar Interconnection and Electric Vehicle programs.

    Before his stint at SMECO, Mr. Hyland served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering Services at the American Public Power Association (APPA) in Washington DC for 24 years. In that position, he was responsible for all the engineering, safety, cyber security, reliability, system planning, mutual aid and operations for the associations 2000+ municipal utilities operating in the United States.

    Mike is a Professional Engineer with an Electrical Engineering degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, is co-inventor on three US Patents, and now resides in Nashua, NH. Mike has been married to his wife Colleen for over 33 years. Together they have raised three engineering children: Reid, Erik and Jodie.

    This roundtable is being held as part of the 2024 Energy Connect Conference. Registration for this event is part of the overall conference registration. Please register by Friday, October 18, 2024.

    Cancellations are accepted until Monday, October 7, 2024.  Substitutions may be made up until the day before the event.
