Fiber optic cable has been around for decades. With the unprecedented public investment in broadband infrastructure, the time is right to consider expanding your fiber footprint at historically low cost. In this talk we will discuss the basics of data transmission over fiber optic cable, focusing on Dense Wave Division Multiplexing or DWDM. We will cover what it is, how it works and why we use it. A PhD in Physics is not required to attend!
