Description
Please be advised of one permanent vacancy for Storekeeper/Construction Handyman/Spill Coordinator in the Power Production Department. The wage scale is $43.81 per hour minimum and $51.54 per hour maximum. Future wage levels are subject to collective bargaining negotiations.
DUTIES OF POSITION:
- Perform duties at the Cleary-Flood Generating Station, West Water Street Facility, substations and other locations as required. Handyman duties shall include, but not limited to, carpentry and construction to walls, doors, windows and flooring. Other maintenance activities including digging holes, trenches and other excavations, landscaping, pavement, concrete work, etc.
- Conduct manual and clerical duties involved in the receipt, storage, custody, maintenance, distribution and shipment of supplies, materials and equipment from the warehouse/stockroom or other storage areas. Prepare status and trending reports as required to assess warehouse inventory control program performance.
- Requisition or procure stock items and maintain inventory control. Coordinate stock records with purchasing, accounting and other departments as required.
- Operate materials-handling equipment such as, but not limited to, fork lifts and manual pallet trucks. Also operate and maintain power tools and landscaping equipment.
- Perform snow and ice removal duties as directed. This work may involve sanding, manual and power assisted snow removal and snow plow truck operation.
- Conduct Spill Coordinator duties in response to oil and other chemical releases. Maintain supplies in spill cage. Implement TMLP’s Facility Response Plan working with the Environmental Compliance Administrator. Direct other employees assisting in cleanup. Efforts shall be in accordance with Federal, State and DOT regulations and at the direction of TMLP management and the LSP.
- Assist Environmental Compliance Administrator with hazardous waste duties including inspections, waste handling, sample collection, labeling, tagging, loading and shipping.
- Perform equipment inspections including fire extinguishers, SCBAs, spill response equipment, and hazardous waste storage/satellite areas.
- Must be able and willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must be capable of performing heavy work in accordance with the TMLP’s functional job description and must possess a valid Class D motor vehicle operator’s license. Applicants must possess 1C Tow Motor and 3A Hoisting licenses or obtain such within 6-months. A Massachusetts construction supervisor’s license is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge and skills of construction handyman duties are required. Demonstrated experience being responsible for stockroom computerized inventory control and management is preferred.
Applicants must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. The successful applicant must be deemed eligible for Respirator Fitness work and will be required to pass a Respirator Fitness physical. Applicants must be OSHA 24 hours spill response trained or be willing to attend 24 hour-spill response course when offered. Applicants must be able to work from heights as required. Applicants must pass a hands-on practical skills exam.
