Hierarchy of Hazard Controls
October, 2025
Elimination is the most effective hazard control method as the hazard is physically removed from the workplace. Eliminating tasks performed in high areas would eliminate falls, for instance, while performing linework if feasible de-energize the line test and ground this will remove the hazard and the employees can perform the task in a controlled manner. While effective, eliminating hazards is not always possible. Many pieces of electrical equipment carry the risk of arc flash. If so, the other types of control measures on the hierarchy offer solutions.

S.O.R.T For a Safer Working Environment
September, 2025
The acronym S.O.R.T. is a tool that can help remind us to take steps to address hazards and create a safe work environment. S.O.R.T
stands for Stop, Observe, Recognize, and Take Ownership. Taking ownership means more than just communicating the hazard to the other people in the work area. Stop work if necessary and get the right people involved to address the hazard correctly.

FATIGUE & STRESS MANAGEMENT
August, 2025
Another safety topic for work that is worth discussing with your team is coping with fatigue and stress
management. Living and working in a fast-paced world with incredibly high customer and electric demands, fatigue and stress have been a common and unfortunately normalized problem in the modern industry. They are generally the result of not eating a balanced breakfast, skipping lunch breaks, and not getting the required sleep due to long duty periods, heavy workloads, and demanding deadlines. If not
immediately addressed, they can impair cognitive and body functioning, sometimes even permanent impairment, and long-term mental problems, like anxiety and depression.
