Do you have an Electrical Engineering degree but would like to work outside sometimes? Or- are you an electrician with a knack for programming and technical work? Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) is hiring a Relay and Advanced Metering Technician. This position is part of our Substation team, at the hub of our infrastructure.

The ideal candidate: AA or higher in EE or equivalent; Journeyman electrician; 3-5 years experience in electric utilities, especially high-voltage environments; safety mindset; curious, collaborative, a great teammate.
Also interested in: Willing and able to earn training/qualifications they don't yet have; enough experience to know you're comfortable in high-voltage environments; safety mindset; curious, collaborative, a great teammate.
What you should know about this job: On-call rotation required once apprenticeship steps are met. Work is sometimes performed in extreme weather at inconvenient times. Planned and unplanned overtime is required.
This position starts at $50.93/hr. (Apprentice) and tops out at $63.71/hr. (First Class). External candidates with the right combination of qualification and experience could start above the Apprenticeship level.
The Substation team is based in Johnson but travels daily throughout our service territory, which includes areas of the northern tier from the Champlain Islands to the Connecticut River.
