Description

Supervisory Electrical Engineer: Provide expert technical engineering supervision and support for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the entity’s electrical distribution system. This position is responsible for system infrastructure expansion specification and design, and maintaining critical system records, maps and one-line/Geographical Information System ("GIS") diagrams. This position supports line operations and construction through a variety of deliverables, roles and responsibilities. The Supervisory Electrical Engineer communicates directly with customers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies by responding to a wide variety of informational requests. Monitors system loads and performs evaluation of system improvements along with the preparation of the annual and five-year Capital Work Plans. Supervises the Electrician and Substation Operator in the installation of residential and commercial meters responding to high bill and property damage complaints and troubleshooting voltage fluctuations.

 

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.  Five years of experience in a related Electrical Engineering position, such as Systems Engineer, Systems Control and Protection Engineer, Substation Design Engineer, Distribution Engineer, Electrical Engineer or related. Some experience must include the following: Carrier-class or utility-grade engineering experience; planning and implementation of distribution systems in overhead and underground facilities; production of above-grade and below-grade designs; performing system load analysis; providing recommendations for load relief, system maintenance and system upgrades; providing technical support during system emergencies; performing protective relay calculations; and fault and coordination studies for substations and transmission and distribution lines.  Some experience must include supervision of project activities and providing technical assistance to engineers and technicians.
